A hit-and-run has landed a male and female driver in hot water with police.
At about 5 p.m. on Saturday police were called to the scene of an alleged hit-and-run on the corner of Arthur and Franklin streets in which a vehicle rear-ended another vehicle, then fled the scene.
Officers picked up the trail of the suspect vehicle and arrested both occupants a short distance away. According to witnesses the male suspect, who was not named by police, was driving at the time of the collision, but switched seats with the female passenger before the couple took off.
Both occupants of the suspect vehicle were subsequently charged with impaired driving and drive over .08.
The blood/alcohol readings, according to police, were over 3.5 times the legal limit in both cases.
No one was hurt and the accused will both appear in court next month.
