Hit-and-run sends 2 to hospital with potential life-threatening injuries

Police say suspect vehicle fled the scene after the collision.

THUNDER BAY -- City police say two pedestrians have been sent to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries following a hit-and-run in the Intercity area on Monday afternoon.

Police said the driver fled the scene after the collision,which took place at about 3:30 p.m.

The incident took place near the intersection of Northern Avenue and Simpson Street.

A significant police presence remains in the area and the public is advised to avoid the area. Extreme traffic disruptions in the area should be expected.

Police have not yet released a description of the suspect vehicle or its driver.
