THUNDER BAY —Hold and Secure safety precautions were temporarily implemented at Pope John Paul II separate school Monday morning.
The Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board says the declaration was made following a comment made on social media.
Thunder Bay Police said they were dispatched at 8:05 a.m. to place the Franklin Street school under hold and secure amid a possible weapons investigation.
A police spokesperson said a student involved in the incident was identified and located.
In a news release issued shortly after 9:30 am, the TBCDSB said the social media comment was deemed to be non-threatening to the school community.
Hold and Secure requirements were lifted with the guidance of police, the board statement said, but the incident remains under investigation.
