THUNDER BAY – Newly-elected Thunder Bay-Atikokan MPP Kevin Holland has been appointed to a Parliamentary Assistant role in the Ford government’s latest cabinet.

Holland, was announced as the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing on Wednesday. He will support Minister Steve Clark in the position.

The mayor of the Township of Conmee for a quarter century, Holland will bring plenty of experience in the municipal sector to the role.

The rookie MPP had expressed hopes he would find a place in cabinet, while acknowledging he'd face tough competition.

He was not selected to be a member of that 30-person group, while northern colleague Greg Rickford was named minister of northern development and minister of Indigenous Affairs, a slightly reduced portfolio.
