Holy Family School visited by Easter Bunny

Students take part in annual Easter egg hunt as part of Holy Week preparations.

THUNDER Bay – As a reward for good behaviour and treating each other with respect, the Easter Bunny paid an early visit to kindergarten students at Holy Family School.

He hopped into their schoolyard on Thursday afternoon, helping them celebrate an annual Easter Egg hunt that saw nearly 90 youngsters filling their baskets will all sorts of chocolate treats.

It was a great way to spend the afternoon, said Ryder Olynick.

“I had great fun because we saw the Easter Bunny. And I liked finding chocolate,” he said.

Classmate Milania Diebel was equally enthralled.

“I liked running to get all the treats,” the six-year-old said.

“You get to race.”

For Julia Valente, it was all about the chocolate.

“I like eating chocolate,” she said.

And for Kaylee Budowski it was meeting the celebrity of the day.

“I saw the Easter Bunny and I got a lot of chocolate,” she said. “I really wanted to see the Easter Bunny.

Teacher Merrill Young said it was a lot of fun for the younger students, but also for the older ones, who helped spread the treats throughout the schoolyard and enjoyed watching the littlest ones at the Rosslyn Road school race around collecting them.

“We always have our annual Easter egg hunt as a culmination of our Holy Week preparations. We’ve been talking about Easter week and the kids have been talking about kindness to others, taking care of each other. The whole premise behind this is when they come out they are trying to be kind and watch out for the little ones and watch out for each other.”
