Thunder Bay’s Bev and Ray Joly are the winners of this year’s Fort William Rotary House Lottery.

The couple, who spent Canada Day at camp, win a 1,682 square foot home situated at 242 Sunflower Street.

The home includes a four-piece main bathroom and ensuite, and living room complete with a natural gas fireplace and hardwood floors that extend into the dining room. The kitchen features granite countertops and four new appliances.

Lottery organizer Gordie Garriock, said the draw, in its 27th year, has donated nearly $5 million back to the community since it was first held.

“It’s a very, very big event for the community,” she said.

“It’s exciting to win a house and we are the only house draw in the community. But, you know what, it’s gratifying because all the people in this community say they’d love to win, but it doesn’t matter. They know their dollars are being well spent because it goes to health care, it goes to education ... It is a wonderful, wonderful use of a person’s $100.”
