THUNDER BAY -- Anyone want to split $20,000 with a local fundraising initiative?
The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation kicked off its 15th annual Intercity Shopping Centre 50/50 Cash Draw Wednesday afternoon and it’s hoping to give someone $10,000 by Dec. 23.
Board of Directors chair Tracey Nieckarz said it's part of the $5.9 million Exceptional Cancer Care initiative launched earlier this year. Funds stay in Northwestern Ontario.
"To assist with diagnosis, treatment and research with respect to Cancer for the people of Northwestern Ontario," she said.
"We're almost there but we still have a little way to go so every little bit helps."
Tickets are $2. A $500 gift card for the mall has been added as an early bird prize this year, which will be drawn Dec. 2. The cash draw will be Dec. 23.
"It's a nice present right before Christmas," she said.
