Mortality rates at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre are significantly lower than the national average.

Mortality rates at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre are significantly lower than the national average.

A report issued Thursday by the Canadian Institute for Health Information gives the local hospital a 75 score, which is slightly higher than the 74 it earned in 2010-11.

The hospital standard mortality rate compares the number of actual deaths at a hospital to the expected number of deaths. A score above 100 suggests a higher mortality rate. A score below 100 indicates a lower mortality rate.
