THUNDER BAY -- Patient care at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre received a $65,000 boost Thursday.
A total of 41 Family Care grants were handed out, for hospital improvements which benefit patients.
There were applications this year. And although the Family Care committee wanted to fund them all, they already had to stretch their budget to cover the 41 successful applicants.
The improvement projects cost anywhere from $105 dollars to just shy of $7,500.
The President of the Health Sciences Foundation, Glenn Craig, says patients will notice many changes, from treatments to how wait times are managed.
Among the items granted funding, there's a three dimensional heart model to explain angioplasty to patients, and equipment to better train patients with a temporary or permanent stoma.
