THUNDER BAY – Ontario Provincial Police have laid a charge under the Emergency Measures and Civil Protection Act.

Police, in a release issued on Thursday, say they responded to a report at a local hotel of registered guests causing a disturbance in a room in Sioux Lookout.

Officers attended the room and educated the guests about the emergency orders, set forth by the province, and charged one individual with fail to comply with an order made during an emergency.

Police remind the public that compliance with the orders is not optional, and fines can range from $750 for individuals to $1,000 for obstructing anyone performing a duty or exercising a power in accordance with an order made during an emergency.
