House fire injures two

An afternoon house fire left two Thunder Bay residents with minor injuries after they tried to extinguish the flames themselves. A fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. Friday in an upstairs bedroom of a John Street home.

A fire broke out around 1:30 p.m. Friday in an upstairs bedroom of a John Street home. Firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene and the fire was quickly extinguished.

District fire chief David Grant said paramedics treated on person for cuts to his hands while another resident was treated for smoke inhalation on scene.

Grant said residents should always call for help when there is a fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation. There is no estimated cost of damages.
