Housing starts for Thunder Bay continue to see improvements as the year comes to a close.
By the end of November, there were 366 total units started in the Thunder Bay area for 2011.
That represents a 75 per cent increase over last year’s housing start statistics.
Market analyst Warren Philp credits certain projects in the city for leading to that jump.
“This year we were certainly boosted by one particular start – 132 units over in the south side of the community form the St. Joseph’s Care Group project,” he said.
Philp added that there have been 186 multi-unit starts so far this year. That’s up from the 18 units recorded by the end of November in 2010.
