Human remains found on Victoria Island last summer have been identified.

THUNDER BAY -- Human remains discovered by a group of people fishing last summer on Victoria Island have been identified.

OPP responded to a report on June 24, 2018, of suspected human remains located on Victoria Island, on Lake Superior. The remains were discovered by people who were fishing in the area.

Police notified the Office of the Chief Coroner and a forensic anthropologist had been on scene to examine the remains.

The deceased has been identified as 57-year-old Robert Timothy Buscumb of no fixed address (originally from Alberta).

The cause of death is not deemed suspicious.
