THUNDER BAY -- The Thunder Bay District Humane Society continues to search for the person who abandoned two kittens in a snowbank on a freezing cold day two weeks ago.

One of those kittens has now undergone amputation surgery. Ducky, as the remaining kitten has come to be known, lost all of its rear left leg, part of its hip, all of its tail and a chunk of its ear. Melanie Blanchette of the Humane Society is calling it the worst case of frostbite she's ever seen on one of their rescues. She said Ducky is on medication but still suffers from phantom pains at night.

Blanchette adds that donations to the Humane Society for Ducky's ongoing vet care would be accepted.
