THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay Hydro says crews have restored power in several areas affected by weather-related outages on Tuesday.

The biggest outage was in the northeast corner of the city, affecting up to 2,000 customers in County Park and rural areas.

It was caused by tree contact on power lines.

The Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board closed Holy Cross and Our Lady of Charity Schools because of the outage, and made arrangements for bussing students home.

Hydro One also reported several outages east of Thunder Bay affecting approximately over 2,000 customers.

The largest area impacted was along Highway 17 between Marathon and White River.

Power was also cut along a stretch of highway from Schreiber westward.

Hydro One's website indicated that repairs in all areas would be completed Tuesday afternoon.
