Thunder Bay Hydro rates are going up.
The Ontario Energy Board has approved a hike of 0.18 per cent by the local utility. However, the actual increase on hydro bills will be about three per cent for homeowners and 3.7 per cent for small businesses due to other province-wide transmission increases.
In a related matter, the Hydro board of directors has now decided not to pass down the costs of a recent class action lawsuit directly onto local hydro customers.
The utility will instead cover that $160,000 cost from within.
