A final vote is expected in Ottawa Wednesday that should end the long-gun registry for good.
A second to last vote was held last week on Bill C-19. Local NDP MPs John Rafferty and Bruce Hyer voted in favour of it and continue to endure sanctions from their own party for supporting the Conservative bill.
And the two MPs say they will continue to stand up for their constituents to abolish the long-gun registry.
A final vote is expected to come forward Wednesday evening, once the government sets aside time to debate the bill.
Rafferty said he's looking forward to seeing Bill C-19 pass at third reading.
Rafferty and Hyer are still paying the price for voting to scrap the registry, having lost their speaking and party travel privileges.
However, Hyer said he expects those sanctions will end once a new leader is elected in March.
