Ice cream options

There will be ice cream on the waterfront this summer.

Although a spot at the Pond Pavilion at Prince Arthur’s Landing is vacant, a popular stop for ice cream last year, city officials say people looking for cool treats have some options.

A gift shop in the train station and a concession stand near the skateboard park will both have pre-packaged ice cream for sale. Softserve will be available, weather depending, at the Bait Shop.

“We can’t expect them to be open and have staff there facilitating sales when nobody is down here at the park,” Marina Park operations coordinator Kathy Ball said.

“There will be lots of variety down here it’s just going to be what’s available and where.”

As for the pavilion stand, Ball said drainage is a problem, which is why ice cream cones can’t be served out of there.

But the city is looking into the issues for next season.
