Ice storm prompts warning from police

City police are strongly recommending citizens limit travel due to the severe ice storm.

THUNDER BAY -- City police are advising residents of Thunder Bay to minimize travel of all kind during the ice storm that hit the region overnight.

In a release issued on Wednesday, police remind the public the storm is expected to continue through Thursday, according to Environment Canada's forecast.

Police also advise the public to be aware of power outages which have hit various sectors of the city and to monitor Thunder Bay Hydro's outage map for updates

Meanwhile Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and to get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first aid kit and a flashlight ready for unpredictable circumstances.
