The mayor of Ignace has resigned.
Lee Kennard was just starting the second year of a four-year term.
He tendered his resignation at a special council meeting Friday, Jan. 27, citing personal reasons.
He says it won't be easy leaving the community where he has lived for 35 years.
Ignace's four council members will hold their next meeting on Monday.
They're expected to declare the mayor's chair vacant, and then consider their options for filling the position.
