THUNDER BAY -- A Thunder Bay long-term care facility has stopped admissions, transfers and social activities because of an outbreak of a respiratory illness.

The facility-wide outbreak, declared jointly with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, is at Lakehead Manor at 135 Vickers Street South.

Visitation is currently restricted to family members and caregivers only.

Health officials urge anyone who is feeling unwell to refrain from visiting hospitals and long-term care facilities to avoid spreading infections to vulnerable people.
