THUNDER BAY - A 24-year-old female was arrested after police identified her vehicle as stolen, and later found the driver to be impaired and driving with a suspended licence.
A Thunder Bay Police Service Traffic Unit officer spotted the vehicle reported as stolen driving southbound on Fort William Road just before 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
The officer then initiated a traffic stop on Fort William Road near 11th Avenue, where the driver was arrested at the scene without incident.
The driver of the stolen Jeep SUV was then transported to TBPS headquarters where a breath sample determined her blood alcohol concentration to be about twice the legal limit.
An investigation also revealed she was a suspended driver.
The 24-year-old Thunder Bay woman faces charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
She is expected to appear in court on Thursday.
