DEVON TOWNSHIP - A 41-year-old woman is facing a series of charges, including impaired driving charges after she was involved in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 593 on Monday.
A 41-year-old woman was driving southbound on Highway 593 when the driver crossed over the centre line and collided with the driver of a northbound pick-up truck.
The driver of the sedan was transported to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries, while the driver of the truck did not report any injuries. The sedan sustained extensive damage, while the truck sustained moderate damage.
Officers spoke with the driver of the sedan and determined the driver had been consuming alcohol.
The driver was arrested and further tests were conducted.
The 41-year-old was charged under the criminal code with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs, and operation of a motor vehicle while impaired - blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams of alcohol.
She was also charged with numerous infractions under the Provincial Offenses Act including: no motor vehicle license, use plate not authorized for vehicle, fail to apply for permit on becoming an owner contrary to the Highway Traffic Act, no insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Act, and failure to prevent dog from attacking person contrary to Dog Owners Liability Act.
She is to appear in in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on Aug. 16 to answer to the charges.
