IGNACE, Ont. - Ontario Provincial Police report a Thunder Bay man stopped on Highway 17 on Saturday was travelling 50 km/h over the posted speed limit. The man now faces a number of charges, including for impaired driving.

Officers with the OPP's Ignace detachment conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, while concluding another investigation. The stop occurred in Joynt Township, just east of Upsala.

Police impounded the man's vehicle.

In addition to impaired driving, the 28-year-old man faces charges of mischief under $5,000 and stunt driving. He is scheduled to appear in provincial court on Oct. 13.
