Impaired driving charge issued after early morning collision

A 20-year-old woman from Thunder Bay has been charged after colliding with a taxi cab and a police cruiser.

THUNDER BAY -- A 20-year-old Thunder Bay woman has been charged with impaired driving after colliding with a taxi cab.

City police were called to the area of Limbrick Street and Kensington Drive Friday shortly after 1 a.m. due to a motor vehicle collision involving a car and taxi.

Police say the car stopped briefly then fled the scene of the incident.

After receiving a description of the vehicle, police located it a short time later at the intersection of Balmoral Street at the Harbour Expressway.

During the traffic stop, the car rolled forward and collided with a police cruiser.

The 20-year-old Thunder Bay woman was arrested and charged with impaired driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.

No injuries were reported as a result of either collision.
