Impaired driving charges laid in two separate incidents

RED LAKE, Ont. – Two individuals are facing impaired driving charges following separate impaired driving incidents.

According to an OPP release, officers were advised of a motor vehicle that had struck a moose Monday around 11:47 p.m. on Highway 105 within the Township of Ear Falls.

Ontario Provincial Police say the vehicle was located and through investigation it was determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol.

The officer made a demand for an approved screening device breath sample.

The driver failed, was placed under arrest and returned to the detachment for more tests.

As a result, a 20-year-old woman of Ear Falls was charged with operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration.

She was released by way of undertaking for Red Lake court on Oct. 15.

The following day, officers from Red Lake were advised of a traffic complaint around 8:39 p.m. on Highway 105 within the Municipality of Red Lake.

Police say the vehicle was located and through investigation it was determined the driver had been consuming alcohol.

The officer made a demand for the driver to complete a Standard Field Sobriety Test.

The driver performed poorly, was placed under arrest and returned to the detachment for more tests.

As a result of the investigation, the 21-year-old man of Red Lake, was charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

He was released by way of undertaking for Red Lake court on Oct. 15 to answer to the charges.
