Impaired Red Lake man charged, police find him sitting in idled vehicle: OPP

(RED LAKE, ON) – Officers of the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid two charges of Impaired Driving this month.

On December 6, while on patrol in Balmertown, officers came into contact with a male in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle. 

As a result of their investigation a 21-year-old  Red Lake man was arrested and charged with Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired and Care of Control of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 contrary to Section 253(1)(a) and (b) of the Criminal Code. 

He was released by way of a Promise to Appear in Red Lake court on January 28, 2016.

On December 19, while conducting RIDE at Highway 105 and Highway 125, officers spoke with a male and determined that he had been drinking.  A roadside demand was made which resulted in a fail.  The male was arrested for Over 80 and returned to detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation,A 45-year-old Cochenour man is charged with Impaired driving and Over 80 contrary to Section 253(1)(a) and (b) of the Criminal Code.  He was released by way of a promise to appear in Red Lake court on January 28, 2016.

The OPP reminds motorists that operating a vehicle under the influence of any amount of alcohol is dangerous and jeopardizes your own safety as well as the safety of others.  If you are planning to consume alcohol then plan to have a sober person drive you home.
