THUNDER BAY — An inmate died Sunday at the Thunder Bay District Jail.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of the Solicitor General says paramedics were called to the jail Sunday morning after the inmate was found in medical distress.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
No further information is available about the circumstances of the inmate's death.
The Office of the Chief Coroner is investigating, while the ministry is conducting its own investigation.
In cases where an inmate's death is not due to natural causes, a mandatory inquest is held.
