Input sought on bridge replacement

Federal government wants to know if Baudette-Rainy River International Bridge requires an environmental assessment.

OTTAWA – Public input is being sought into the need for a federal environmental assessment into the proposed replacement of the Baudette-Rainy River International Bridge west of Fort Frances, Ont.

The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency on Monday put out a call for submissions, specifically seeking comments from both the general public and Indigenous groups and the project’s potential effects on the environment.

Following the online consultation process, a decision will be posted on the CEAA website that will indicate whether or not the assessment is necessary.

If the answer is yes, the public will be given three months to comment on the environmental assessment.

Comments must be submitted by April 3 and can be submitted by mail or via email at [email protected].
