THUNDER BAY -- A mandatory inquest has been announced into the circumstances surrounding the death of Cody Thompson-Hardy.
Thompson-Hardy died on Aug. 19, 2011 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre following a transfer from the Thunder Bay District Jail. He was 18 years old at the time of his death.
The inquest that will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Thompson-Hardy's death is expected to last up to five days and to hear from approximately 15 witnesses.Its jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
The inquest will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, 2016 at the Ontario Government Building, 189 Red River Rd. Dr. Michael Wilson will preside as inquest coroner and Dan Mitchell and Nicole Stortini will be counsel to the coroner.
