Inquest into death of inmates at local jail set for January

An inquest into the deaths of two inmates at the Thunder Bay District Jail is set for January. Ronald Fagan and Jacy Pierre died within a month of each other at the jail in 2007. The mandatory inquest is set for Jan.

An inquest into the deaths of two inmates at the Thunder Bay District Jail is set for January.

Ronald Fagan and Jacy Pierre died within a month of each other at the jail in 2007. The mandatory inquest is set for Jan. 18 and is expected to take around two weeks and hear from 45 witnesses.

It begins at 9:30 a.m. At the Ontario Government Building on Red River Road. Dr. Michael Wilson will be the inquest coroner. The inquest will look at circumstances surrounding the deaths, which happened on Sept. 27 and Oct. 27 2007.

A jury may make recommendations to try and prevent similar deaths.
