THUNDER BAY — An inquest into the death of a man at Lac des Illes mine five years ago has been announced.
Edouard Gallant, 64, from Dunlop, N.B., died on May 27, 2020 from injuries sustained working at the Impala mine on Highway 527, just north of Thunder Bay.
The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Gallant's death and a jury may make recommendations to prevent further deaths.
The date and venue of the inquest have not yet been announced.
The mining company was fined and pleaded guilty to the Ministry of Labour three years after the incident.
