THUNDER BAY -- Details have now been announced regarding the national inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, which will make a stop in Thunder Bay next week.

The inquiry has already heard from families in six other communities, including Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Saskatoon.

The local hearings will be held at the Nor'Wester Hotel from Monday to Wednesday.

Commissioners Michèle Audette and Brian Eyolfson are expected to hear from around 50 family members and survivors from this region.

The first two days will be open to the public, with the third day reserved for private hearings.

The panel will also hear from up to 40 walk-in's who want to provide testimony.

The national inquiry aims to look into the causes of all forms of violence against indigenous women and girls, along with the police response to such incidents.

Anyone unable to attend will be able to watch the proceedings streamed online.
