THUNDER BAY – A local driving school says an employee who was charged with multiple driving infractions earlier this week has been terminated from the company.
On Wednesday morning, Thunder Bay police conducted a traffic stop on a driver allegedly using a cell phone while driving.
He also hadn’t been wearing a seatbelt and alcohol was detected on the man’s breath.
A test conducted at roadside showed his blood alcohol concentration was allegedly in the warn range of 50 to 80 milligrams.
The driver, whose identity has not been released by police, was issued two tickets and a three-day licence suspension.
On Wednesday evening, DriveWise Thunder Bay posted on its Facebook page that one of their new employees, who was still on probation, was charged with alcohol, seatbelt and cell phone offences.
“He was immediately terminated. We do not tolerate this behavior and want to assure clients and parents that we took immediate action,” the company said.
The charges against the driver have not been tested in court.
