THUNDER BAY -- The city's International Airport continues to report record traffic volumes.

Officials with the Thunder Bay International Airport Authority say they saw a new annual passenger volume record in 2012.  Data from the airport authority shows that the airport hosted more than 761,300passengers during the year.

That represents 5.8 per cent growth in volume in the past year.

Scott McFadden, president and CEO of the Airport Authority, says he is encouraged by those numbers and believes 2013 will be another banner year for the airport.

"These are the perfect conditions for the introduction fo the new United Airlines services early in 2013," McFadded is quoted as saying in a news release recently issued to media.

United Airlines is expected to begin daily jet services between Thunder bay and Chicago on Feb. 14.
