Investigation into dump truck crash continues, victim released from hospital

City police are still investigating an incident that saw a dump truck crash into a mobile home on Chippewa Road Monday. The Thunder Bay Police Service’s Traffic Unit is looking into the 3 p.m.

City police are still investigating an incident that saw a dump truck crash into a mobile home on Chippewa Road Monday.

The Thunder Bay Police Service’s Traffic Unit  is looking into the 3 p.m. crash that left a large opening in the Totem Trailer Court home.

Police say an eastbound tractor-trailer being driven by a 50-year-old Thunder Bay man left to road and struck the home, injuring a 71-year-old woman.

The victim was taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre via ambulance, treated and later released.

Police say the damage to both the home and truck were substantial.

Gas and electricity was cut off due to the impact of the crash, interrupting service for the entire area.

A cause of the crash is still unknown at this time.
