THUNDER BAY - A teenage girl has been charged with murder in connection to the sudden death of a Thunder Bay girl and police want the public to know they are still accepting tips despite the arrest.

Kayliegh Ivall’s remains were found near Arundel Street near Lyon Boulevard on Monday, April 27.

The 14-year-old suspect was arrested by Thunder Bay Police on Monday, May 4, and appeared in bail court on Tuesday.

The suspect’s identity is protected by the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Despite the arrest, Thunder Bay Police Service Detective-Inspector John Fennell said police will continue to accept tips and information from the public regarding the homicide.

“The tip line will remain open, we are still looking and accepting any information in regards to this, to verify facts we do have,” he said on Tuesday, May 5. “We are still asking people just because there is an arrest, please call in with that information you have.”

Police say they were receiving several tips a day regarding this case which led to the arrest and are still going through forensic evidence including fingerprints and blood DNA.

“Even though we have laid the charges there is still a great deal of evidence that investigators still have to work through,” he said.

An autopsy has been performed but police were not able to comment on the results of the post-mortem.

Fennell also spoke of the impact the case involving young people has had on officers.

“You got to remember, officers have children that are the same age and they are working on this,” he said. “It takes a piece of them.”

The youth suspect is scheduled to appear back in court on Thursday.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call Thunder Bay Police Service at the dedicated tip line at 807-684-1545.
