THUNDER BAY - City police say the investigation into Friday's fatal crash at the intersection of Red River Road and Hill Street is ongoing.

A 25-year-old male was killed as a result of the crash, which took place just after 8 p.m.

“The investigation’s in the very early stages right now, our initial investigation appears that an east-bound passenger car left its lane of travel, colliding with the other involved vehicle, but it’s still very early stages of our investigation and no charges have been laid at this point,” said Sal Carchidi, acting sergeant with the Thunder Bay Police Traffic Unit.

The crash involved a Jeep, with two males, aged 23 and 25, and a sedan, driven by a 57-year-old man.

Upon arrival at the scene, Thunder Bay Police officers observed Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews performing CPR on the 25-year-old male involved in the collision. The male was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, where he was pronounced deceased just after 8:35 p.m.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld out of respect for the family.

Roadways in the area were blocked Friday evening as investigators processed the scene.
