PYEONGCHANG, South Korea – Haley Irwin will have to settle for silver.

The Thunder Bay forward scored once during Thursday’s gold-medal game against the U.S., evening the score 1-1 in the second period.

But it was the Americans who got the last laugh, ending a 20-year Olympic drought in the process.

Jocelyn Lamoureux-Davidson scored the game-winning goal in the shootout on Canadian goalie Shannon Szabados, earning the U.S. a thrilling 3-2 victory that ended Canada’s gold-medal streak at four.

Irwin likely caps her Olympic career with two gold medals and a silver, winning the tournament in 2010 in Vancouver and again four years ago in Sochi, Russia.
