Sioux Lookout – The Municipality of Sioux Lookout enjoyed an incredible response to its recent photo contest – “It’s a #SIOUXtiful Life.” A total of 81 stunning photos were received, with judging taking place last week. After the points were tallied, with only 12 points separating first, second, and third place, we’re thrilled to announce the winners.
“We did our best to ensure the winning photos weren’t just incredible to look at, but had a truly local connection,” explained IT and communications coordinator, Chris Pollard. “Several of the judges commented how surprised they were that their favourite photos didn’t end up with their highest scores.”
Winners will receive gift certificates to a Sioux Lookout business of their choice: $150 for first, $100 for second and $50 for third place. All the photos submitted for the contest may be used by the Municipality on its website as well as in marketing and promotional materials, with attribution to the photographers.
Judging criteria included fit to contest theme of the sights, places, events, traditions, and activities of Sioux Lookout, if the scene is identifiable as being from Sioux Lookout, image quality, how difficult the image was to capture, overall image quality, visual impact, and audience appeal.
