The walls of Fort William Gardens may come crumblin’ down on June 26, when rocker John Mellencamp makes his Thunder Bay debut.

Mellencamp, dubbed the poet laureate of the interstate, on Monday announced his cross country tour, on which he’ll be joined by Canadian favourites, the Cowboy Junkies.

The tour kicks off on June 14 in Penticton, B.C. and ends July 15 in Oshawa.

Mellencamp, who started his career as John Cougar, has had a string of rock radio hits over his three-decade career, starting with Jack and Diane in the early ‘80s and continuing with the likes of Hurts So Good, Cherry Bomb, Small Town, Dance Naked and The Authority Song.

Tickets for the concert go on sale Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at the Gardens box office, or by phone at 625-2929.
They start at $49.50, topping out at $89.50.
