KENORA, Ont. — Just months after hiring its new director of education from the Lakehead District School Board, the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board has gone back to the Lakehead board to recruit a new superintendent of education.

Jane Lower is currently the Thunder Bay-area board's student success lead.

She will assume her new duties in Kenora on Aug. 1, 2020.

Lower began her career in 1992 in Winnipeg, and worked as a teacher in both elementary and secondary schools in the areas of physical education, cooperative education and student success.

She also has experience as a guidance counsellor and in high school administration.

Lower was named student success lead with the Lakehead board in 2015 after 14 years with the organization.

Her appointment comes five months after the Lakehead board lost its own superintendent of education to the Keewatin-Patricia Board.

In late January, Sherri-Lynne Pharand began her new job as director of education.

The Keewatin-Patricia board on Wednesday also announced the appointment of Shannon Bailey as a superintendent of education.

Bailey, who began her career with the KPDSB in 1998, had been serving in an interim capacity.
