Kenora OPP looking for sexual assault suspect

A woman in Kenora was sexually assaulted and robbed by an unknown man late last week.

KENORA, Ont. - Ontario Provincial Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect wanted in connection to a robbery and sexual assault in Kenora.

According to a media release issued by the OPP, officers responded to Hillside Crescent in the city of Kenora on July 26 just after 1 a.m. after receiving reports of a robbery involving a sexual assault.  

Responding officers spoke with the victim who said she was robbed and sexually assaulted by an unknown man. The woman was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said the suspect is described as an Indigenous man in his early 20’s, tall and thin, with short dark hair.

Police are reminding the public to exercise caution and be aware of personal safety by travelling in numbers, avoiding dark trails and streets, telling people where you are going and when you plan to return, and carrying a personal alarm and cell phone.
