Police in Kenora had to use a spike belt Sunday morning to stop two Thunder Bay men who were later arrested and charged for trafficking narcotics.

Police say officers with the Kenora detachment of the OPP deployed the spike belt to stop a vehicle in the area of Essex Road and Beauty Bay Road Sunday morning. Police say they had dealt with the vehicle on a few occasions during the previous evening, but were unable to stop it.

The two occupants of the vehicle fled on foot after the vehicle was driven over the spike belt.
Police say they later arrested two male suspect, 31- and 32-years-old. Both men reside in Thunder Bay.

Both suspects have been charged with possession of property obtained by crime, possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. The suspected driver has also been charged with dangerous driving.

Police say they found cocaine in the vehicle the suspects were driving in. Police could not confirm the quantity of value of drugs seized Monday morning.

Both suspects are expected to appear in a Kenora courtroom Monday to face the charges against them.
