Kids celebrate Halloween early

Dozens of celebrated Halloween a little bit early Saturday with Victoriaville Mall's second annual Halloween Bash.

THUNDER BAY -- Seven-month-old Ayla Jagielowicz is celebrating Halloween with her parents a little early this fall.

Ayla and her mother Julie Jagielowicz joined forces as Hedwig and Harry Potter Saturday during the second annual Halloween Bash in the Village Green area at Victoriaville Mall.

“I love owls and her room is decorated with owls, so of course she had to be an owl for her first Halloween,” Jagielowicz said.

“We are big Harry Potter fans as well.”

Ayla’s age prevented her from participating in the event’s activities, but as a big fan the holiday Jagielowicz said she will definitely be bringing Ayla to Halloween events when she’s older.

For now Jagielowicz’s Halloween activities will just have to involve showing off Ayla’s owl costume to family members.

Jagielowicz said her favourite Halloween activities is trick-or-treating.

“I wish I could go trick-or-treating myself, but now that I have her I will be able to do that again,” she said.

“It saves my husband from dressing up as a duo with me.”

Jagielowicz said the Halloween Bash is a great idea and she hopes to do more events with Ayla in the future.

Organizer Patricia Everett was thrilled with the turnout for Victoriaville’s second annual Halloween Bash

“There’s probably about 500 people here this year, so I would say it’s probably tripled from last year,” Everett said.

“Everybody seems to love it, they can’t wait for the next event.”

Saturday’s event featured a pumpkin carving area, face painting, treats and more than 100 door prizes.

Everett said this is our community, our kids live in this community and this event is for our kids.
