Kids create with beads at the library this summer

The program is designed for children of all ages, and is part of the library's on-going mission to provide free, meaningful fun to families in the city.

THUNDER BAY - The colours of the beads didn't matter to the children taking part in the Thunder Bay Public Library's beading workshop last week.

Families met at the County Park Resource Library on Aug. 7 to treat their younger family members to an afternoon of beading.

One of the city’s newest beading students was Lily Spooner, who is on vacation from Winnipeg.

“I really like it because then I get to have time with the books that I love and I get to do crafts and I think that's really fun,” said Lily Spooner.

Viviane Haberern, with the Thunder Bay Public Library, said the event is a way for family members and children in the community to connect and bond over crafts.

“It is a drop-in and so we have all afternoon tables set up with different beading crafts either like on a little key chain or making it like a necklace including beads and letters and so they can design it however they would like,” she said.

The program is designed for children of all ages, and is part of the library's on-going mission to provide free, meaningful fun to families in the city.

“It definitely brings the community together and nice for the people to get to know each other and have fun together,” Haberern said.

Seeing the public events gaining traction is amazing news, she said.

“It definitely is wonderful, it is nice to see the popularity and the excitement.”
