THUNDER BAY – A local man arrested following a shooting incident at a remote camp site three years ago has been acquitted on all charges.
Casimir King, 30, was arrested following an altercation at Pace Lake in May of 2013.
During the incident it was alleged he pulled out a .22 calibre rifle in an effort to stop a friend from being beaten.
Before the trial, it was alleged that a third party attempted to take the rifle away from him and it resulted in the man suffering two gunshot wounds.
An initial charge of attempted murder was withdrawn and King was instead charged with aggravated assault, intentionally discharging a weapon and careless use of a firearm.
On Wednesday the jury returned a verdict of not guilty on each of the three charges.
The trial began on Sept. 12.
