Knife-carrying suspect charged after threatening security guard

Suspect was found to have a number of knives in her possession and remains in custody.

THUNDER BAY -- A 24-year-old woman, who was armed with multiple knives, was arrested after threatening to stab a retail store security guard.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers arrived at the Walmart on Dawson Road just after 5 p.m. on Friday to assist store security staff, who attempted to apprehend the suspect for a theft. 

Security reported the woman told them she had a knife and threatened to stab one of the staff members. Officers found what police describe as a number of knives in her possession.

The woman has been charged with robbery and carrying a concealed weapon. She appeared in court over the weekend and remains in custody.
