A local man failed to make a citizen’s arrest in Westfort after a second suspect drew a knife Tuesday evening.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers say the 22-year-old Thunder Bay man attempted to make the citizen’s arrest after he noticed two suspects inside his pickup truck at around 8:30 p.m. The man was leaving a friend’s home on East Empire Street when he spotted the two people in his vehicle.

The two suspects fled after being spotted, but the truck owner chased after them.
Police say the truck owner grabbed one of the suspects. That suspect is described as a 14-year-old girl with black hair. The girl wore a tan toque and fall jacket with a fur-lined hood.

After grabbing the 14-year-old suspect, police say the truck owner was immediately confronted by the second suspect. This suspect was a man who was wielding a knife.
The man let go of the female suspect. Both suspects then fled and were last seen running toward a laneway near the 500 block of East Empire Street.

Police say the K9 unit was called in to help locate the two suspects, but no arrests have been made.

No further description of the second suspect has been made public.
