The Thunder Bay and District Labour Council has endorsed Mayor Keith Hobbs in the upcoming municipal election.
The organization also endorsed five at-large candidates and candidates in five of the city’s seven wards.
In the at-large race, the council gave nods of approval to Iain Angus, Norm Sponchia, Aldo Ruberto, Frank Pullia and Terri-Lynne Carter.
Ward endorsements went out to Andrew Foulds in Current River, Shelby Ch’ng in Northwood, Paul Pugh in McKellar, Wesley Ramage in McIntyre and David George Noonan in Red River.
Labour Council president Carlos Santander-Maturana said the results were never meant to be made public, and were only supposed to be seen by labour council members.
However, he did tell Thunder Bay Television the list was put together by their political action committee and was based both on surveys sent out to candidates and their answers at candidate forums held at the Moose Hall during the early stages of the campaign.
Ramage called it an honour to get an endorsement from such a powerful group
“In Thunder Bay we have a rich history of hard-working families from all sorts of backgrounds and to be selected by them is humbling,” Ramage said.
